Shelly Ishii, LCSW-C, former employee of Dr. Doris Morgan, is now owner and psychotherapist at Metro Maryland Counseling Center, LLC since Dr. Morgan’s retirement in March 2019. Dr. Morgan’s previous clinicians have now retired or moved.

Shelly is pleased to have a terrific younger, experienced colleague whom you will meet on this website. Take advantage of Emily Scott’s openings and reduced fees as she begins to build her practice under the Metro umbrella!

Both Shelly and Emily are followers of Jesus Christ, but wholeheartedly welcome any clients without a similar spiritual faith.

About Me and How I Conduct Therapy

My work as a private practice clinician is enriched by 48-years of training and work experiences in hospitals, intensive out-patient programs, prison, dual-diagnosis programs, church recovery groups and community settings, here and abroad.

I use an integrative approach in counseling/psychotherapy that is influenced by person-centered, psycho-dynamic, attachment theory, poly-vagal theory, cognitive-behavioral models, Biblical truth, and healing prayer for some.  I think of the individual as physically, mentally, emotionally, and spiritually affected by his/her relationships within a family/community and work with one’s story from this perspective

Emily earned her Master of Social Work Degree from the University of Maryland, Baltimore, School of Social Work in 2007 and spent the first chapter of her social work career working providing clinical, diagnostic, case management, supervisory, and administrative services across various facets of the juvenile and criminal justice systems. She has worked with individual clients and groups on a myriad of issues including substance use, parenting, anger management, grief and loss, and trauma in the context of these settings. She recently completed a post-graduate Certification in Traumatic Stress Studies and is also a Certified Prepare-Enrich facilitator.
