Emily is transitioning to private practice with fifteen years of social work experience working with individuals who were involved in the justice system. She has provided a wide array of clinical services to primarily adolescent and young men who often had extensive histories of trauma which manifested in emotional and behavioral difficulties. She personally and professionally brings with her knowledge of
the role that chronic, accumulated and/or traumatic stress plays in a person’s ability to function optimally and the intimate connection between one’s body, mind, and spirit. Emily also knows that healing is possible and is most effective in a safe and trusting relationship with another and works to instill this hope in her clients as they begin the therapeutic process.
Emily views every life as valuable and prioritizes the work of understanding and treating each client as unique. She is always looking to learn the most up to date and efficacious treatment modalities and currently incorporates a variety of approaches in her practice with clients, to include cognitive-behavioral, psychodynamic, trauma-informed, and polyvagal theory-informed. Most importantly, she offers a warm and inviting presence and views it as a high honor to serve as a compassionate witness to clients as they navigate the journey of healing places of deep pain.
Emily is married to a local missionary, and they are in the throes of raising three young children. She is continuously encouraged by Isaiah 43:19, “See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it? I am making a way in the wilderness and streams in the wasteland.”
